- R.C spots something in the distant horizon, but doesn't no what it is.
- He finds lots of bones along the coast where he saw the object, and finds that it was a ship of savages, who came to the island to eat their prisoner.
- ( kind of off of subject, he wonders how he could make beer)
- He plans to destroy these cannibals, but his plan seems unlikely because it would take up a lot of gunpowder, and is likely not to work.
- He then plans to just shoot them all. (sort of a blunt approach, don't you think?)
- But he stops his scheming when he realizes that they have done him no harm, and only when they do would it be moral for him to retaliate and take precautionary measures.
- In a word, he is afraid of the savages, and then he isn't.
